Youth Room
The youth room is undergoing a fabulous change. Spearheaded by the New Life Christian Sunday School Class, the improvements just keep on rolling. If you haven't visited lately...please go see it...you'll love it.
The process was kick-started by a very generous, anonymous donation of beautiful upholstered furniture...just perfect for a cool youth room. Then, the walls were painted using vibrant hues and fun designs. Cafe tables and chairs followed, along with end tables, projection video system and screen, and a Wii gaming system. Future items include 2 - 42" flat screen TV's, accent lighting, locking cabinet, and a table for the coffee maker, etc.
This updated room is a blessing and will serve our youth well. A big THANKS to those funding and helping with this project.
NEWS FLASH (Aug, 19) - Accent lighting is installed and looks fantastic! Televisions have been purchased and ready for installation. Thanks to those involved.... progress has been outstanding. We also hear that improvements are coming to the middle-school room soon.
Youth Ministry Needs
Thank you to all of the parents that have been willing to come and help with our youth group on Wednesday and Sunday nights. We appreciate your commitment. We would like to continue to have parental involvement with our youth group to aid in crowd control and present an adult presence. We feel this commitment will continue to strengthen our youth group as well as form healthy bonds with our youth and adults of the church. There are never too many good role models for our children.

Upcoming Youth Group Events
September 11th – Rafting Trip - $30 due now. We will be rafting with a new company this year called Adventurous Fast Riving Rafting. We will be rafting on the Nantahala River. Please send in fees for this event as soon as possible. We apologize for the immediate request for payment, but we were encouraged to get our reservation confirmed as soon as possible. The number of assisted guides is already very limited and she wanted to make sure that we got at least two for our group. Waiver forms will be distributed closer to rafting trip.
September 12th – Youth to go downtown Greenville! Meet at the church at 5:15 pm. We will return by 8:30 pm.
September 19th – Autumn Rush for Jesus BUMC Youth Rally – 6:30 pm to 8 pm (Ice Cream Social to follow.) Youth need to meet at the church by 5:00 pm to eat dinner.
October 2nd – Sr. High Backpacking Trip to Tennessee. Sign up has begun. Cost will be $10 for lunch on Sunday. There will be a mandatory parent meeting for all participating on Thursday, September 30th at 7 pm. We will meet in the dining room in the Family Life Center at 7 pm.
October 3rd – Senior High Youth will not have a regular youth meeting.
October 10th – God’s Knights and Youth Family Cookout and Bonfire. This event will be held from 5:30 pm to 8 pm.
October 17th – Senior High Youth Bonfire
October 23rd – BUMC Fall Festival. Youth group will be responsible for two booths this year. Youth will rotate between the two indoor booths and our designated “Youth Trunk” outside.
October 24th – Youth to visit shut-ins. Meet at the church at 5 pm for dinner. Visits will be done between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
October 29-31 – Youth Camping Trip to Table Rock. Cost will be $20. Payment confirms participation. Deadline is October 3rd. We will meet at the church at 4 pm on Friday, October 29th. Our goal is to return to the church by 12 pm on Sunday, October 31st. There will not be a regular youth meeting on Sunday, October 31st.
November 12th – A Night with the Chapmans – Chapman Live – Steven Curtis Chapman will be playing in Simpsonville at Brookwood Church. Concert will begin at 7 pm. Cost will be $23. Payment confirms participation. Deadline is October 17th. If you are interested in participating, please do not wait until the last minute to sign up. For further questions, contact Lisa Seffrin.
November 14th – Operation Christmas Child Mission Fundraiser – Youth will be encouraged to help with this event. We will be serving chili at 11:30 am and 12 pm. Please support this event!
November 21st – Youth to visit shut-ins. Meet at the church at 5 pm for dinner. Visits will be done between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
November 28th – No Youth Meeting
December 12th – Youth Christmas Party – 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
December 20th – Church-Wide Christmas Caroling. Meet at church at 6 pm. Upon finishing the caroling routes, all are invited back to the church for our delicious dessert buffet, hot chocolate and hot cider.
December 26th – No Youth Meeting
January 28-29, 2011 – REVOLVE TOUR (GIRLS ONLY) – Duluth, GA. Be on the lookout for further information in October Newsletter.
February 11-13, 2010 – REVOLUTION YOUTH CONFERENCE – Columbia, SC. Be on the lookout for more information in the October Newsletter. We had an amazing group attend this event last year and hope more will participate this year. It was incredible!
We have several events that are being held close together. If needed, we can look into some fundraising options to help offset some of these costs. Please let Lisa Seffrin know if you are interested in having your child participate.
