Ministerial Staff


Ministerial Assistant Rev. Mike Cox "retired" in 1997 and joined the Bethesda staff in early 1998. Mike has served United Methodist Churches in South Carolina since 1957, pastoring large and small churches. His responsibilities at Bethesda include leading the church evangelism program, following up with and nurturing visitors, and visiting members who are homebound or in the hospital. Mike loves music and is known for his deep concern for others. Ministerial Assistant Rev. Mike Cox

 

Rev. Cyrus "Cy" Dawsey Rogers has been the Minister at Bethesda for five years. Pastor Cyrus Rogers and his wife, Lou During this time, Cy has introduced a contemporary praise service, overseen a building expansion program, and developed an active youth program. Cy believes that a church should provide an "umbrella of care" to its members and surrounding community, and focuses upon strengthening the church by strengthening small groups and personal relationships.

A son of the missionary Rev. Will Rogers, Cy grew up in Brazil and lived for a year in the Amazon. He graduated from The Citadel and earned an engineering degree at Clemson University before entering the seminary at Erskine. A minister for 18 years, he enjoys writing and watching and flying airplanes. Cy is known for his hugs, his ability to bring people together, and his listening. His wife, Lou, is active in the choir and is a youth leader.
